Deddington Church
Deddington PCC statement of purpose

Deddington PCC encourages each other, and all church members, to grow in faith.
We endeavour to enable our Church to play its part in God’s mission and ministry to His world, caring for the resources He has provided and setting an example to others who use our Church.

We support our clergy by sharing leadership of the Church, ensuring compliance with all legal matters whether charitable or ecclesiastical, and caring for both buildings and churchyards. We consult and communicate with the wider Church through its synodical structures both locally and nationally on matters that affect our Church.

Our main purpose is to serve God, serve and care for one another and create an environment where this can be sustained.

Deddington Church Who’s who

PictureRevd Nick Fielden
The Reverend Nick is the Vicar of the Deddington Benefice. He was appointed in April 2024 after completing his curacy in Bodicote and prior training for ministry at Cuddesdon Theological College. Before his calling, he spent 27 years as an IT manager across the public and private sectors, and has held a strong Christian faith since childhood. He is married to Vikki and has two grown-up children. Revd Nick is passionate about sharing God’s love with joy and believes in an inclusive church that welcomes all and reflects that love in word and action.

PictureStan Nelson
Stanley was born in County Durham. He has lived in Oxfordshire for 35 years and in Deddington for the past 14 years. He is a keen gardener and cricketer. Stanley spent 8 years as a church appointed governor at Deddington C of E school, and helped run the 1st Deddington Boys Brigade for a similar period of time. He is currently responsible for church Health & Safety.

PictureHeather Nason
Heather moved from Oxford to this area in 1970, and then to Deddington in 2014. Heather has been playing the organ in Barford and Hempton churches for over 30 years. Heather sings with the Warriner Choral Society as well as in the church choir.

PictureOlivia Fenion
Having grown up in the village, Olivia is proud to have spent 30-odd years as a chorister at Deddington Church (she is older than she looks!). As well as Choir and PCC, Olivia also helps to maintain the Church Facebook page and social media updates, so do get in touch with her if you have any events to share.

PictureAngela Faint
Angela is a retired Speech and Language Therapist, who moved to Deddington from Adderbury 3 years ago. One of the main motivations for this move was that she had become a committed member of Deddington Church where she had found a much-valued fellowship. Angela has become a Server, a Sideperson and is also on the Social Events Committee. Her other passion is creating designs in glass.

PictureJane Maharry
Jane has been a member of Deddington Church since 2006 and became PCC Secretary in July 2024.
Jane has previously worked for the Diocese of Oxford, supporting schools with their buildings and capital planning.
In her spare time, she enjoys singing and taking long countryside walks.

PictureDavid Clements
David moved to Deddington with his wife Barbara from Lincolnshire in 2022 where he had worked as a head teacher at a large Church of England Primary School for over 20 years, and as a Diocesan School Advisor for 8 years. Whilst in Lincolnshire, he was a PCC member for the local Parish Church, was church warden for a number of years and served on both Deanery and Diocesan Synods and the Diocesan Board of Education. Church music has been an interest for him for very many years, initially as a young chorister and then as an organist.

PictureSarah Banes
Sarah and her husband first moved Deddington in 1995 before heading for the bright lights (and birdsong) of Clifton. After several years abroad in China and Thailand they were drawn back to Deddington and Sarah re-joined the congregation and the choir. A PCC member since 2020, Sarah is presently one of the Deanery Synod Reps.
