Confirmation
What is confirmation?
People who have been baptised may be confirmed when they are old enough to renew for themselves the promises that were made for them at their baptism by their parents and godparents.
The service will be held either at your own parish church, or at one of the other parish churches in the deanery, so that several candidates from across the deanery will be confirmed together.
The bishop presides at the service and will use the opportunity of the sermon to talk to the candidates about the responsibilities of adult Christian life and they will then make their public profession of faith. During the service the bishop prays that the Holy Spirit will come upon those who are to be confirmed, using the words “Confirm, O Lord, your servant with your Holy Spirit.”
What are the next steps?
In the first instance you should contact Revd Annie so that she is aware of your interest, and she will talk to you about how we prepare for confirmation. Don't worry if you have not been baptised already, this can be arranged in conjunction with your confirmation.
