Friends of Deddington Church

The Friends of Deddington Church is a secular organisation whose purpose is to raise funds to help preserve and maintain this historic building that has stood at the heart of our village for nearly 800 years.
We are a network of people who appreciate the many contributions of the church to our village community,
In January 2022, the FoDC achieved full status as a charity. This brings with it important tax advantages for donors.
Activities in the church
Our church is both beautiful and historic; indeed, it has been accorded Grade 2 starred status. But it is not just a museum piece. In addition to the usual activities of a parish church the building is nowadays a centre for a whole range of activities in the community. Until Covid struck, these included concerts, exhibitions, readings, lectures and charity events. One way or another our church enhances the lives, not only of its regular congregation, but of all those who live or work in the village.
Unlike many rural parish churches, St Peter and St Paul is open seven days a week. Go through the door and you are struck by modern innovations. Up-to-date furnishings, audio-visual facilities and IT equipment mingle with the past. The odds are you will find a group of people having coffee in support of Katharine House Hospice, rehearsing for a concert, or setting up tables for the Farmers’ Market, Fair Trade or the latest exhibition. In the Living Room people plan a children’s activity morning, or staffing and using an internet café. Deddington Primary School has the Church as its theatre as well as its place of worship.
